- 12 ga. plugged shotgun and plenty of non-toxic shells!
We recommend 3-4 boxes of 4 shot, 2 shot if weather calls for high winds.
Plugged shotgun with a 3 shot limit.
- Warm waterproof clothing (anything dark, can be camo or not),
waterproof bibs and jacket are great and almost necessary if raining.
Waders work well but are NOT allowed, they can be unsafe while hunting out
of a layout boat and you should never be stepping into the water at
anytime (let us do this).
- Don't forget a warm hat, gloves and maybe even some hand warmers.
- Cameras and film or video camera.
- Sunglasses or shooting glasses
We will provide
some basic drinks & snacks for the day. If you are picky you are more than
welcome to bring you own snacks. Please call with any questions, we would rather
you call and make sure you have everything than for you to forget something and
then let that spoil your trip.
License and Waterfowl Stamp Requirements
To hunt migratory waterfowl in Michigan you must
have a small game hunting license. Persons age 16 and older must also have a
Michigan Waterfowl Hunting License ($5.00), a Federal Migratory Bird Hunting
Stamp* ($15.00) and a HIP endorsement.
Small game license options (only one required)
• Resident small game license ($15.00)
• Resident senior small game license ($6.00)
• Resident junior small game license (These licenses are not required for a
resident, resident’s spouse, or resident’s children to hunt on their enclosed
farmland on which they live.) ($1.00)
• Nonresident small game license ($69.00)
• Nonresident 3-day small game license ($30.00)
* Federal waterfowl stamps are not required for hunting doves, woodcock, rails
and snipe. The federal stamp must be signed across its face with your name in
ink. People hunting on their own enclosed farmland are required to have a
federal stamp. The stamps are available at post offices and some Michigan
license dealers.
